Studio Spotlight: Sukha Yoga

Founded in 2015, Sukha Yoga in Austin, TX, is more than just a yoga studio—it’s a space where people can come as they are, connect with others, and grow both on and off the mat.

From day one, Sukha Yoga has been about creating a welcoming environment where students feel like they’re stepping into their own living room. Each of their two studio locations is thoughtfully designed with furniture, decor, and an overall vibe that says, "Stay awhile."

Sukha Yoga stands out with its Bhakti-inspired approach, incorporating mantra chanting, harmonium music, and yoga philosophy into classes. This unique blend creates a soulful experience that sets Sukha apart in Austin’s yoga community.

Beyond Bhakti, the studio offers a variety of classes, including vinyasa, power, yin, restorative, and meditation. Infrared heated classes are available at the Tarrytown location, and Sukha also pioneered Austin’s first 200-hour meditation training, showcasing its dedication to fostering personal and communal growth.

A Place for Connection

At Sukha Yoga, owners Mark and Erinn have cultivated a sanctuary for connection and self-discovery. Community is at the heart of everything, and the studio serves as a gathering place where students can unroll their mats and feel completely at ease.

Even during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sukha adapted by transitioning to online classes and maintaining a strong sense of community. Today, Sukha continues to thrive as a hub for connection and growth.

Advice for Aspiring Studio Owners

Anyone thinking about opening a yoga studio should ask plenty of questions and understand the commitment involved, share Mark and Erinn. It’s essential to decide whether you’ll be a hands-on owner-teacher or a more passive manager. Running a studio is a challenging but rewarding journey, requiring passion, resilience, and preparation.

A Daily Ritual of Care

At Sukha Yoga, daily rituals of self-care are essential. Whether sitting in meditation, taking long walks, or practicing yoga, Mark and Erinn make time to reflect and recharge. They embrace the idea that yoga can take many forms, finding balance and inspiration in the ebb and flow of life.
